Henry VIII seeks a divorce from his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, in order to marry his mistress (en route to six proceeding wives). When the Roman Catholic Church refuses, Henry rejects the Church altogether. More, a man of principle and reason, defies Henry, confronting him and chastising the King’s actions. More stands up for his beliefs despite the propensity of Henry VIII to violently respond to his critics.
