Jerry Mulligan finds himself in Paris at the close of World War II and decides to stay in the magnificent city in order to further his burgeoning art career. While there, he meets Adam Cook, an aspiring concert pianist who befriends Jerry in his new home. Meanwhile, Jerry is pursued by Milo Roberts, a wealthy patron-of-the-arts. Jerry sees in Milo financial security for his painting, but she has a more intimate relationship in mind.
