Asylum
Year | 2003 |
Director(s) | Sandy McLead |
Runtime | 20 min |
Calmly telling her story while looking into the camera, Baaba Andoh recounts her pursuit of asylum in the United States. Baaab was forced to leave her naive Ghana to escape female genital mutilation. The filmmaker used “imagery and music to illustrate and empower this first-person narrative, while allowing Baaba’s compelling personality to present the story without the filmmaking getting in the way.”
