Raised in abject poverty in Eastern Kentucky, Loretta Lynn married at thirteen and was a mother of four by the time she reached twenty. Her early musical talent was nurtured by her husband, Doolittle Lynn, who bought her a pawned guitar. Before long, she cut her first single, and her career exploded from there.
