On the weekend of his 15th birthday Pedro takes a trip but doesn’t come back. His father sets out to find him and bring him home. Pedro’s sudden disappearance is the last card to fall as Theo’s castle in the air crumbles to the ground. His marriage of fifteen years has already suffered. After checking out police stations and hospitals, Theo hits the road following disconcerting tracks left behind by his son – he “adopted” a horse, falsified his ID, sold his beloved computer and set out down a federal highway headed for who knows where. As he searches for his son, Theo meets people on the road like himself, people living borderline existences, encounters that force Theo to accept the imponderability of life itself.
Father’s Chair is a brilliantly executed film, beautifully shot and acted, with a resounding story of redemption and reconciliation at its core.
This film contains some strong language, brief sexual content, some violence and mature themes.
