Jealous of the Birds provides a new angle and new stories to the pantheon of Holocaust related documentaries. The film focuses on the emotional history of a small community of Holocaust Survivors who remained in Frankfurt, Germany after liberation from Nazi death camps, and asks the question, “Why would a Survivor choose to remain in Germany— shoulder to shoulder with their perpetrators?”
The filmmaker interviews his grandparents and others in Frankfurt, giving an insightful, intimate look at the decisions these survivors made years ago and the consequences they have lived with all these years, living amongst their former enemies. Their insights and experiences are unexpected and revealing.
This film has mature themes, mild violence and strong language related to the experiences and memories of Holocaust survivors.
