Marky is a young girl passed on by her father as a placeholder for a bet he’s in on. When he loses the bet, a troupe of gangsters is left with a little girl on their hands, so the decide to use her in their schemes. Sent to live with ringleader Sorrowful Jones, Marky is soon adopted in to her new “family,” for better or worse. While all the gangsters grow fond of her and Sorrowful develops a sort of father/daughter bond with her, she’s also learning the cynical attitude of her surroundings.
