Every day Monty takes three children across a river so that they can go to school. And every day the children verbally criticize him for one reason or another. Finally, Monty gets fed up with it all and goes on vacation, leaving the children to their own devices. The three must now find their own way across river. Realization sinks in, after several futile attempts to cross the river, that they were taking advantage of Monty. The three children stumble upon a valuable lesson in kindness and respect.
