To a growing number of Mexicans and Latinos in the Americas, narco traffickers have become iconic outlaws and new models of fame and success. Examining the viral effect of the violence that has reshaped the face of a country and created an entire subculture that celebrates corruption, this film portrays both the allure and human cost: a crime scene investigator in Juarez, painstakingly documenting the endless murders committed by narco cartels, and an LA-based narco corrido band, gaining money and fame with lyrics and performances that glorify the gun-infused, murderous narco culture.

Filmed at great personal risk, war photographer Shaul Schwartz unflinchingly shows the tragic, real cost of a culture ruled by warring cartels who kill with impunity and a thriving music industry that glorifies the cartels as modern-day Robin Hoods. Rapidly gaining strength on both sides of the Mexican /U.S. border, this unthinking elevation of a murderous culture is an alarming trend that can’t be ignored.
