The Notebook

Ally and Noah meet as teenagers; they spend one unforgettable summer together, falling in love for the first time. Outside forces work against them, though, and their relationship is tried to the breaking point. First Ally’s parents, well-off and finding Noah unfit for their daughter, keep them apart. Then, with World War II looming, Noah leaves to defend his country. Ally, in the meantime, meets a man more suitable to her parents tastes, accepting his proposal for marriage. When she hears of Noah’s return, however, Ally must decide whether to commit to a life she’s only half living or to rediscover the one man who made her feel truly alive.
