The only English student in an Afrikaans school, P.K. is an orphan subjected to harsh racial hatred. He’s taken in by Doc, a friend of his family’s, when World War II breaks out. Before long, Doc finds himself a political prisoner and the lost P.K. is forced to make his own way, Doc’s guidance coming only from a distance. Visiting Doc, P.K. meets Geel Piet, a soft-spoken and wise African boxer. From Geel Piet, P.K. not only learns to box, but about African myth and culture as well. Starting high school, P.K.’s blatant disregard of segregation ignites a fury and P.K. must enter the ring to fight for the freedom he so strongly believes in.
