Mexico, 1914. Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa fight for the Mexican Revolution. In a forgotten mining town lives an eleven year old boy named Gapo. One day the army raids his town, searching for Gapo’s older and only brother, a revolutionary outlaw. Gapo decides to travel to the north of the country to find his brother. But he’s not traveling alone; Juan Escopeta, a gunman for hire on a mission, joins him on his quest. The Revolution of Juan Escopeta tells a story of courage and resilience, while adding a new perspective to the Mexican Revolution.
With a simple but effective animation style, the film focuses on the story and characters as they struggle for freedom.
