Since the Chinese occupation of independent Tibet in 1950, more than one million people have been tortured, executed or starved to death for their role in the demonstrations against the Chinese invasion. Tibetan Buddhist nuns have taken the lead in this resistance by staging courageous demonstrations of independence. This documentary illustrates an alternative to violence through the examples of women who strictly adhere to the principles of nonviolent social change while trying to free their country from Chinese rulers.
