Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the biggest on-screen couple in Hollywood. Off-screen, however, the two can’t stand each other. Lina prefers the company of her mirror, while Don has begun to pursue an aspiring ingenue, Kathy.  Before long, the studio decides to put the couple in their first talking picture. This is no problem for Don, a talented singer and dancer, but for tone-deaf Kathy it spells the end to a long career. With test screenings producing nothing but derisive laughter, the studio is forced to make a change, looking to the young and untested Kathy.

Singin’ in the Rain played at the 2004 Heartland Film Festival in the Truly Moving Musicals Sidebar.
