Allen King has a few problems. Fired for plagiarizing a student’s work, he’s broke, shunned, and has just about hit rock bottom. Living in sunny Arizona, he now begrudgingly shuttles immigrants across the Mexican border illegally in the trunk of his car for cash. Meanwhile, his ex-wife Margaret is in the heat of a conservative campaign for State Senate, and his teenage daughter Emily has started spying on him to see where he disappears to on the weekends.
It’s only a matter of time before Allen’s life catches up with him and rapidly devolves into chaos as both his pregnant Mexican girlfriend Ana and his daughter Emily both land in his car during an illegal run across the border – along with three immigrants in the trunk.
