Jason DaSilva was a young filmmaker enjoying the fruit of early success when, during a family vacation, he fell on a beach and could not get up. Diagnosed with primaryprogressive multiple sclerosis, this 25-year-old suddenly faced a drastically different future. Devastated, Jason turns the camera on himself. We witness his physical decline as well as the constant emotional adjustments that inevitably must come. His mother, in her inimitable way, steadfastly reminds him never to quit, refusing to pity him or allow him to wallow in his misfortune. Fortune comes in surprising moments, and while simply completing the film becomes nearly insurmountable, Jason and those who love him never give up.
This film is honest and clear-eyed about the reality of enduring degenerative disease, both for Jason and those who love him. It’s refreshing, emotional, inspiring and challenging to witness Jason’s determination to live and continue to create art in spite of the myriad obstacles.
