Spared by a God he didn’t believe in, Jason Malleck comes home to Utah carrying shrapnel wounds in his legs and the memory of his best friend dying in combat.  Though Jason’s girlfriend and his mother reach out to him, he mourns the loss of his friend and wonders why he was spared, until an unlikely friendship in the neighborhood gives him a ray of hope.
